INTRODUCTION OF ARCGIS TO THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS OF STUDENTS INDUSTRIAL UNIVERSITY OF TYUMEN

Abstract. The article analyzes the analysis of ArcGIS software, its capabilities and ways of introducting students of the Tyumen Industrial University into the educational process.

Key words: ArcGIS, ArcGIS features, introduction.

 

Currently, ArcGIS software is used to build maps and visualize data.

ArcGIS is a complete geoinformation system that allows you to collect, organize, manage, analyze, share and distribute different information [3]. This platform is used in a variety of areas: land cadastre, Internal Affairs Ministry and Ministry of Emergency Situation, oil and gas, ecology, etc. [1,2].

GIS market is constantly developing and growing. Now GIS technologies are increasingly being used as corporate information system, which is used in Limited Liability Company “Gazprom”, Public Company  LUKOIL”, etc. [1].

Thus, having studied the application of ArcGIS, and assessing its constant demand in the modern market, it can be said that this software is used in many industries. Since the Industrial University of Tyumen trains specialists in various fields, the question arises of introducing this platform into the educational process.

Analyzing the scope of ArcGIS products, their possibilities for specific institutes in the TIU were considered (Table 1).

Construction of 3D models for both individual objects and the whole city.

While researching, the task of analyzing the software ArcGIS and its implementation in the educational process of the students of the Institute of Information Technologies was set, and, as an example, the tasks of forecasting and analyzing the consequences of the technogenic disaster for the direction of training “Technosphere safety”.

Having considered the possibilities of using ArcGIS products by the students of the University, it should be noted that this software can be used in every institute.

For concrete understanding of the possibilities of working in the system, we will solve several tasks in the direction of "Technospheric security." One of the directions is prediction and analysis of the consequences of technogenic emergency situations,which can be obtained by constructing map-schemes (Fig. 1).

On the map you can see three different enterprises (AGS, Flour and woodworking plants), for each object a certain ES was predicted, after which the initial data are entered in the attributive tables (Table 2).

Using the functionality of ArcGIS, by entering the necessary formulas, parameters were calculated such as: radius, overpressure of explosion, range of scattering of fragments and time of accumulation of dust. To visualize the data, buffer zones were constructed from the obtained explosion radius value. After analyzing the map and the results of Table 3. it can be concluded that in the explosion at the gas station, the safe distance is 261 meters, there are no residential buildings within the explosion zone.

When flour is blasted at the milling plant, an excess pressure of 442 kPa is generated, which will lead to a strong degree of destruction of the building and a deadly degree of human injury. The explosion radius will be local (12.1 m).

With the explosion of wood dust at the woodworking plant, an overpressure of 20 kPa will be created, which will lead to an average degree of destruction of buildings and easy damage to people, the range of fragmentation of fragments is 1499 meters. In Fig. it can be seen that there are no residential developments within the explosion, but will have an impact on roads, forest plantations and partly on railroad tracks.

In conclusion, it should be noted that our analysis of the capabilities of the ArcGIS software product, using the example of specific TIU institutes and the problem of disaster forecasting, considered in the work, showed that this information system, including a multitude of functions, can be proposed for the introduction of students in the TUE, as the most progressive GIS technology.
